Educating the Whole Child:
Mind, Body and Spirit.
The philosophy and mission of our school is to educate every child to the fullest of his or her potential and to prepare each student for a role in the world as a Catholic adult. We are committed to teaching the love of God, others, and self.
St. John School, in close and vital cooperation with our parents, enjoys the challenges of educating and preparing our children to advance to the next level with the knowledge, skills, and courage that they need to be successful.
St. John School follows the Diocese of Columbus Department of Education curriculum. Each course of study is based on national standards as well as Ohio’s Academic Content Standards, and includes additional objectives designed to help students achieve academic success.
These learning objectives reach beyond the scope of national and state standards, while integrating elements of our Catholic faith. Student progress is reported through Diocesan progress reports each quarter of the school year. Progress reports include subcategories from each course of study that highlight the major components of the subject. This allows teachers to indicate strengths and areas for improvement in specific areas.
To gain maximum benefit from the educational process, students should be in attendance every regularly scheduled school day. Absences, tardiness, and requests for early dismissal and vacations should be kept to a minimum.
Parents are asked to report their child’s absence by calling the school between the hours of 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. A message may be left on the school answering machine.
This will eliminate the need for school staff to disrupt parents/guardians at work or at home.
