Educating the Whole Child:
Mind, Body and Spirit.
It is an honor and a pleasure to be the Principal at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School. I am a retired public school educator with 32 years of service as a Music Teacher, Technology Coordinator, Elementary Principal, and Technology Teacher.
I grew up in Belpre, Ohio as the third of five boys. I graduated from Belpre High School in 1975. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Music with a Vocal Emphasis from Ohio University in 1980, I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 1999 before going on to get my Elementary Principal, High School Principal, and Assistant Superintendent Licensures.
I worked at Steubenville City Schools from 1986 to 1991 and at Logan-Hocking Schools from 1991-2017. Previously to public education, I worked two years as a Lay Pastoral Assistant for Christ the King Parish in Athens, Ohio, then two years at St. Joseph Preparatory Seminary in Vienna, West Virginia as a choir director and music teacher. I then taught at St. Agnes Elementary School in Mingo Junction, Ohio.
During my time in Steubenville, in addition to teaching, I was Pastoral Musician to Blessed Sacrament Church in Wintersville, Ohio, and Holy Name Cathedral. I also played at Franciscan University Summer Conferences. Since being in Logan, Ohio I have been a pastoral musician for St. John the Evangelist for 29 years.
I have been married for 40 years to Karen, who is now a retired public school Art Educator, and is now working with me at St. John teaching art. We have raised four children and now have two grandsons.
When not at school and church, I sing in the Lancaster Community Chorus and we enjoy our fur babies, Buster, Bella.
